Area 31 Racing Team have been friends since the 1970's and over the years have competed and made friends with some of the best hydroplane drivers and teams in the world of powerboat racing.
David Jones: Driver
Influenced by his father David Jones Senior along with hydroplane greats such as Kent Rhome, Goran Linder, Ulf Anderson and Totte Rossen, David has competed in powerboat racing since the early 1970's.
As an experienced driver, David enjoys racing the classic hydroplanes around Oulton Broad to give fans of powerboat racing memories of yesteryear.
Outside of Area 31 Racing, David is a area rep for Motorshack and also mechanics for JC Racing team.
Steven Riches:Mechanic
As a full time mechanic working on agricultural machinery, Steven's knowledge of engines has been essential to the Area 31 Racing Team over the years.
Steven has also played an integral part in the restoration projects Area 31 Racing have undertaken to date.
Outside of Area 31 Racing Steven enjoys watching his son competing in radio controlled car racing.
Andy Wilson-Sutter:Mechanic
Before Area 31 Racing, Andy was a mechanic for both David's father and also one of the best British hydroplane drivers of his time Peter Bright.
Andy's experience in building, and tuning classic Crescent and Konig engines is therefore second to none and he has also played a big part in the restoration projects to date
Outside Area 31 Racing, Andy likes to relax by fishing competitive matches locally and nationally.
Phillip Punt:Mechanic
Phillip joined the Team after previously being part of numerous other classic hydroplane racing teams that compete at Oulton Broad and on the national circuit.
Phillip has had a keen interest in the three classic hydroplane projects the team have restored and launched to date.
He is also a valuable member of the team on race days in the pits, preparing both the boat and engine for team driver David to compete with.
